Thanos Akalestos has been Executive Director of SEIV since 2025. He represents the medical technology and biotechnology sector before government, regulators and EU institutions on access, reimbursement, procurement and compliance.
He spent 20 years (2003–2024) at Roche Diagnostics Hellas, most recently as Head of Medical Scientific Affairs & Healthcare Development and member of the Leadership Team. He contributed to the design of national screening programmes, reimbursement processes and digital health solutions, working with public authorities, scientific societies and patient organisations.
He holds a BSc in Biology (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and an MA in Strategic Communications (American College of Greece). He serves as an advisor to the EUPATI Patient Academy of the Greek Patients’ Association.
